Was the Trolls Masks from Ernests Scared Stupid Reused Killer Klown Masks?
Across multiple mediums for years you'll see such remarks/statements such as:
The troll masks from 1991’s ‘Ernest Scared Stupid’ were repurposed alien masks from 1988’s ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’.
The troll masks from "Ernest Scared Stupid" (1991) were recycled from the Chiodos brothers' other film, "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" (1988)
Two of the masks that were used to create the clowns in the film were allegedly re-purposed and used to portray trolls in the 1991 film Ernest Scared Stupid.
These are actually debunked and false!! The Troll Masks from the 1991 Ernest Scared Stupid film IS not recycled or repurposed masks from the Killer Klowns from Outerspace Masks!
This should help any spread of Misinformation spread around by forums and social medias and giving a definitive answer about it directly from the people who made the movie!

Official Statement:
Edward Chiodo wrote:Once again, the Klown heads were not reused in Ernest Scared Stupid. The Troll heads were not cast from the klown molds either. The original Klown head molds were destroyed shortly after the production of the movie. We did have some ear molds that were that were probably used on some of the background trolls. What did happen, is we pulled some snaps of portions from castings we had at the shop to flesh out Charlie's designs during the sculpture phase He designed both the Klowns and Trolls, so they are similar. We hope this settles it once and for all.

I never heard that rumor online or anything (I really try to avoid getting any kind of news online, from social media especially) I hear that rumor straight from horror documentaries, and we're talking about high budget heavily promoted style documentaries. That's how prevalent and even accepted this rumor was, they openly talk about it on these shows like it was a fact. Unfortunately, I can't name names, since those documentaries tend to run together when you watch enough of them.
I've studied the masks in questions, and while you can definitely see why people would think they're the same, they're not one-to-one. I don't think you could change the mouths or the positions of the ears like that without destroying the mask in the process.

Correct! To change stuff like that would involve alot of destruction of the mask in the process!
