I thought Jason’s dad let him out. Wasn’t that a deleted scene or cut scene? Someone said they’ve seen it as part of an airing on TNT. So I think Jason’s dad let him out but beat him up a little too.

If we go by the Tommy Tapes then Rick had changed his name and got killed by another killer lol.

If we don't then he would have definitely been the head Sheriff.

It depends on the state and or whoever runs the department.

Position up ranks can be made by a single person or a group, it all depends.

I think the humiliation of being disarmed by a teenage girl and left locked in his own jail cell would cause him to consider another career or at least learn from it and become a better police officer. No doubt he'd be grateful to have survived when the other cops were killed, even if he has survivor's guilt. Rising from that, he'd be a natural to be sheriff

Maybe. I’ve never written a novel before but I’d write a short story or something and try my hand at it.
