Did the Jarvis fmaily know about Jason

2+3+4 all took place over the weekend
We see in pt 3 the deaths are announced on the news and in pt 4 we see on the paper the announcement that Jason had escaped(if memory is correct)

Why did it seem the Jarvis family was so laid back?

Shouldn't they have been freaking out this happened in their area?

Not everyone follows the news. Even in rural areas with small town gossip, some people choose to distance themselves from their surroundings.

Unfortunately, these are the people that tend to end up on Jason's chopping block most often.

They likely didn't watch the News Channel on the T.V. or had the radio, the only one who know was Rob Dier and even then at that moment it was a kept down secret til near the end of the movie and as Silencer said it here that people like to separate themselves.

Being out in the woods, I imagine they're a bit out of touch when it comes to breaking news

I think they probably felt the police would deal with it and that nothing was going to happen to THEM.

Let's face it. Jason was old news in this area based on the reaction in the original with Enos and the others. Paul's campfire tale was a warning saying that locals had seen Jason in the area. Of course, some people just don't buy into that stuff.

Pretty much what every one else has said. The only thing I can add is that it was the 80's and news didn't travel as fast. If you weren't watching television or listening to the radio at exactly the right time, you could miss even major stories like this. There were no cell phones or internet with instant breaking news updates at the tips of your fingers as soon as it happens. Newspapers were still a thing back then, but the same logic applies. The Jarvis' just felt like a family that were aloof in their own little bubble, with no idea of the storm about to come there way... Just like the movie needed them to be.

We did see the part where Mrs. Jarvis was reading the paper about Jason’s body disappearing I think. Plus, when she sees Tommy and Trish meeting teens after they first arrived, the look on her face kind of told me she wasn’t necessarily happy. Maybe she was worried Jason would show up.

That’s something I’d like to see the upcoming Crystal Lake tv series dive into. The showrunner has said they have access to everything so I’d be very happy if they gave a little bit of backstory to Mrs. Jarvis and said she knew about Jason.

Yeah I assumed she figured Jason was dead and as for his body disappearing probably a sick prank.

yes didn't he have the paper up at the end taped to mirror?

Yeah that and he found Rob’s newspaper articles. So between those ones and the one Mrs. Jarvis was reading is where he got the idea is what I thought.

But wasn't Jason still technically a folklore in pt 4?
