He's undead...I'm not sure how he remembers anything. However, he seemed to remember Tommy in part 6. Of course, Tommy's the one who put him down.

FWIW...my wife thinks that I overthink these movies. She's probably right.

You're in the right place. Everyone on this forum overthinks these movies to potentially unhealthy degrees, and I'm absolutely fine with it.
