horror movie trends
What kinds of trends do you see in horror movies?
We've seen scary monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Slasher movies showing a guy in a mask and carrying a knife, axe, chainsaw or some other sharp object have graced theaters from time to time. Zombie movies gave us armies of the undead coming to our house. We've seen self-aware movies like Scream. And who can forget these exorcism films and found footage movies?
What do YOU think?

Re: horror movie trends
The two I've noticed the most recently are, a group of obnoxiously bland young people gather together in a remote place and supernatural hi jinks ensue, or a single woman with the same worn out backstory travels to some creepy location and supernatural shenanigans ensue.
Neither premise is terrible in principle, what annoys me though is that it feels like 90% of horror movies I come across nowadays follow one of these two tropes. I'm exaggerating, of course, but I feel like Hollywood Mandates have been particularly tough on the Horror genre.
There are too many subgenres to list honestly, but I will bring up the post-apocalyptic creature film genre that A Quiet Place helped roar back to life.

With Megan 2.0 coming out at some point, I wonder if we'll see more killer doll movies a la Chucky, or something with an AI influence to it.

Don't know about Dolls specifically, but I can definitely see a spike in AI related horror content in the near future... Like there isn't already a hundred other movies, books, and short stories that have been trying to warn us about AI for decades now, lol.
